Better product decisions. Better software delivery.
We work directly with software teams and business leaders to decide what is worth building and improve how it gets built. We write and ship production software, shape roadmaps, prototype new products, improve delivery processes, and grow engineering teams.
The situation
The roadmap is full and releases keep slipping
Everyone can tell something has to change, but the team can't stop shipping long enough to reinvent how it works.
The way a software team works at 20 people stops working at 100, and the problems change again at 500. Priorities get harder to hold, coordination costs grow, releases slow down, and practices that used to be “good enough” start getting in the way. We have worked through those transitions from the earliest stages of a company through billion-dollar scale, and we help teams make the changes their current stage requires.
What we do
AI enablement
AI makes writing code faster, but does not automatically make teams faster. Planning, review, testing, and deciding what to build become the bottlenecks instead. We have worked with unicorn startups and Fortune 500 teams to adapt their software delivery process to AI-assisted development.
Product direction
There is always more software worth building than there is time to build it. We work with business leaders to connect roadmap decisions to the problems the business needs solved, decide what deserves attention now, and keep the scope focused on the parts of the work that will actually matter.
Scaling teams
How to hire, how to fire, level expectations, performance management, training, goal setting, and coaching. We have run engineering teams where headcount doubled or tripled every year. At that pace, the path from needing another engineer to getting one hired, productive, and pointed in the right direction has to be repeatable, because delays compound quickly.
Hands-on engineering
We write and ship production software alongside your team, bringing proven engineering practices to improve the software delivery process. That means breaking projects down so they can move quickly, automating testing, simplifying deployments, managing infrastructure as code, adding the right monitoring, and communicating what engineering is doing to the rest of the business.
Rapid prototyping
Have an idea and need to see whether it works in the market? We have launched early products for everyone from single-founder startups to Fortune 500 companies. We build prototypes and early products so you can get something into the hands of real users and use what you learn to decide whether the idea is worth investing in further.
How we work
Bring business and engineering together
The most effective changes to the way software gets built are those that benefit the business stakeholders and the technical team at the same time. We get business and engineering making decisions together, with an understanding of where each role starts and ends, clear ownership, and the shared context to know why the work matters and what it will take to deliver.
Write down why, not just what
We record the reasoning behind our decisions in the same places the work lives: your repositories, documentation, and other tools. That gives your team — and the AI tools they use — the context to understand why it was done that way long after we are gone.
Pair with the people who will own it
The team that will own the work after we leave is in it with us from day one. We work alongside them, whether we’re writing software, shaping the roadmap, changing a delivery process, or coaching a manager. By the time we leave, the team has been part of both the work and the decisions behind it.
Who we are
Patrick Wiseman
Co-founderPatrick has founded three consultancies, three product companies, and a non-profit club. He has held technical leadership roles at three high-growth unicorn startups. He was the first technical hiring manager at Salesloft and Director of Engineering at Calendly, both when they held the title of fastest-growing company in Georgia.
He works on the end-to-end engineering process and how work gets developed, sequenced, executed, and reviewed. He is an expert on team discipline and the right practices for your current scale.
Ben Olive
Co-founderBen spent over a decade at Salesloft, outlasting most of the founders. He joined as the first non-founding engineer and served as Principal Architect through the company’s $2.3 billion exit to private equity.
He has built, operated, and scaled critical production systems through years of rapid growth. He works on technical strategy, product direction, architecture, and platform design.
